You can update stories published on FictionPad at any time. While you are updating a story, readers will continue to see the published version until you are ready to republish it with your changes.

To make changes to a published story:

  1. Find the story you want to edit. One easy way to do this is to type its name into the search box at the top of every page. You can also use the XX stories option that appears when you click on your name in the upper-right corner of the site to jumop to a list of all the stories you’ve written.

  2. When viewing the story, press the Make Changes button at the top of the story page.

  3. Make your changes.

    • If you want to edit the banner image or other settings (e.g., maturity level, fandoms, etc.), click on Cover and Settings on the left side of the story page.

    • If you want to add a chapter, press the New Chapter button at the top of the page when viewing the chapter text.

  4. When done updating your story, press the Republish button at the top of the story page.

  5. On the publish confirmation screen, you may want to add an “author’s note” so the story’s followers know what you changed. If the changes you made are minor (e.g., fixed a typo), you may want to check the “This is a minor change…” box to prevent the story’s followers from receiving an email about the change.
